BLA launches major attack in Pakistan; blocks national highway, burns govt buildings

Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) launched a major attack in the Mongochar area of Kalat district in Balochistan, blocking the Quetta-Karachi highway and setting multiple government buildings ablaze.

The attack, claimed by the BLA’s Fateh Squad, began with armed militants halting traffic on the National Highway (N-25), searching passenger buses and private vehicles. They then moved into the local market area, taking control of several government buildings, including the offices of the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA), the Judicial Complex, and the National Bank of Pakistan.

“The buildings suffered major damage due to the fire. The militants fled the area before the security forces arrived,” a security source confirmed.

The BLA stated that the attack was part of what it calls the “struggle for liberation.”

Security forces later launched an operation in the area, and traffic on the highway was restored.

Shortly after the initial assault, a second incident happened in the same area, where BLA militants intercepted a police van transporting prisoners from Gadani jail to Quetta. At least 10 prisoners were freed and five policemen were taken hostage, sources said.

Police officials confirmed that the prisoners were being moved in a private van. “When the wagon reached the Mangocher area of the Kalat district, the terrorists were blocking the national highway and inspecting every vehicle, including buses and trucks. After they came across a prison van, they freed the prisoners and kidnapped five police personnel, who were guarding the van, along with their official weapons. The two policemen in plain clothes remained safe,” a police official said.
