Man Dies After Suspected Overdose of Sex-Enhancing Drug in Gurugram

A 29-year-old man was found dead in his rented accommodation in Gurugram, with police suspecting that an overdose of a sex-enhancing drug may have led to his death, officials said on Friday.

The incident occurred in the Sector 53 area, where the man—identified as Rohit Lal—was living in a paying guest (PG) flat. Originally from Nagpur, Lal was working with the Quality Council of India in New Delhi.

Found Unresponsive in His Room

According to police, concern was raised when Lal failed to respond to calls from a colleague. The co-worker, who usually commuted with him to the office, grew suspicious after repeated attempts to contact him went unanswered.

When there was still no response, the matter was reported to the police. Officers reached the spot and forced open the door, only to find Lal lying unresponsive on his bed. He was declared dead at the scene.

Suspected Drug Overdose

During a search of the room, police recovered wrappers of medicines and health supplements, raising suspicion that Lal may have consumed a sex-enhancing drug in excessive quantity.

Initial findings suggest that the overdose could have triggered a cardiac arrest, though officials have stressed that the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after forensic examination and post-mortem reports are completed.

Planned Meeting Before Incident

Investigators also revealed that Lal had reportedly invited his fiancée to visit him, and the meeting was expected to take place around the time of the incident. However, he died before she could arrive, adding a tragic dimension to the case.

Investigation Underway

Police have sent the recovered medicines and viscera samples for forensic analysis to determine the precise cause of death. No foul play has been suspected so far, but officials say all angles are being examined.

The case has once again highlighted the potential dangers associated with the misuse or overuse of performance-enhancing drugs, especially without medical supervision.
