India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a strong and uncompromising message on terrorism at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Defence Ministers’ Meeting, calling for a united global response and warning that terror hubs would no longer be immune from consequences.
Addressing defence leaders from member states in Bishkek, Singh emphasized that terrorism, separatism, and extremism remain among the most serious threats to global stability. He urged countries to dismantle terror safe havens and reject any political justification for such acts, reinforcing India’s long-standing “zero tolerance” stance.
Strong Warning on Terrorism
In one of his most pointed remarks, Singh highlighted that nations supporting or sheltering terrorism must be held accountable. He stressed that the international community “must not lose sight of state-sponsored cross-border terrorism,” warning against selective approaches or double standards in tackling the issue.
He also referenced India’s recent counter-terror efforts, stating that such actions demonstrated a firm resolve that terror epicentres can face “justifiable punishment.” This was widely seen as a signal of India’s willingness to respond decisively to security threats.

Singh called on member countries of the SCO to adopt a coordinated and consistent strategy against terrorism. He stressed that cooperation among nations is essential to counter evolving threats and ensure long-term regional stability.
