The houses were razed to the ground by blasting
The Jammu and Kashmir authorities on Friday demolished the houses of two terrorists in Tral (Pulwama) and Bijbehara (Anantnag) suspected to be involved in the recent terror attack.
According to reports, the houses of Asif Sheikh at Tral in Pulwama district and that of Adil Thoker, also known as Adil Guree, in Bijbhera Anantnag were razed to the ground by blasting.
The Anantnag Police has announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh for information leading to the arrest of three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists: Adil Hussain Thokar, Ali Bhai, and Hashim Musa
All three are suspected of orchestrating the devastating attack in Baisaran, Pahalgam, on April 22. Accoridng to News18, Adil had legally traveled to Pakistan in 2018, where he reportedly received terror training before returning to Jammu and Kashmir last year.
The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, is believed to be behind Tuesday’s attack. The Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday released a set of sketches of the terrorists who were involved in the Pahalgam attacks that killed 26 people. The police said the sketches were made based on eyewitness accounts. The attack took place around 1.30 pm when tourists were relaxing in the picturesque meadow.
Meanwhile, the Army has retaliated to speculative firing on some Indian posts by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday night. .
“There were incidents of small arms firing at some places along the LoC initiated by Pakistan last night. The firing was effectively responded to,” sources told NDTV.
The attack came a week after Pakistan Army chief General Asim Munir sparked a row when he said Kashmir is Islamabad’s “jugular vein”. “Our stance is absolutely clear, it was our jugular vein, it will be our jugular vein, we will not forget it. We will not leave our Kashmiri brothers in their heroic struggle,” General Munir said in Islamabad while addressing the Overseas Pakistani Convention on April 16.
Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi reached Srinagar on Friday to assess the security situation in the region.
According to reports, the Army Chief is scheduled to meet senior Army commanders deployed in the Kashmir Valley and officials from other security agencies. He will be reviewing the ongoing security situation in the valley and attempts by the Pakistan Army to violate the ceasefire along the Line of Control there.
