Trump Says Iran War May End Soon as Strikes Continue

Washington, March 11, 2026 — U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that the ongoing war involving Iran could end soon, claiming that the U.S. and its allies have already destroyed most of the strategic targets inside the country. His remarks came during a brief phone interview with Axios, in which he suggested the military campaign had been overwhelmingly successful and that the conflict could be wrapped up in the near future.

Trump said there is practically nothing left” to target in Iran, signaling that the military objectives of the operation may largely have been achieved. He added that the conflict could end whenever he decides to halt the campaign, saying that any time I want it to end, it will end.”

War Entering Its Second Week

The war began nearly two weeks ago when the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iranian military facilities, naval assets and infrastructure linked to Tehran’s nuclear program. The operations were aimed at weakening Iran’s military capabilities and preventing it from advancing its nuclear ambitions.

According to U.S. officials, the campaign has targeted thousands of sites across Iran, including missile systems, naval bases and other strategic installations. The strikes were part of a broader effort to limit Iran’s ability to threaten regional shipping routes and neighboring countries.

Despite Trump’s optimistic tone, officials in Washington and Israel have said no formal decision has yet been made to stop the military operation, and the situation on the ground remains volatile.

Regional Tensions Continue to Rise

Even as Trump predicted an imminent end to the war, tensions across the Middle East remain high. Iran has carried out retaliatory actions, including attacks on shipping and energy infrastructure in the region, raising concerns about global oil supplies and economic stability.

The conflict has also disrupted the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route through which a large portion of the world’s oil passes. Iranian forces have reportedly targeted tankers and warned vessels linked to the United States or its allies not to transit the waterway.

Leadership Changes in Iran

The war has also coincided with major political developments inside Iran. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in an airstrike in late February during the early stages of the conflict. Following his death, Iranian authorities appointed his son Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new supreme leader.

However, U.S. intelligence assessments suggest that Iran’s government remains stable, despite heavy bombardment and leadership changes. Analysts say the Iranian state still retains control and is unlikely to collapse in the near term.

Uncertain Endgame

While Trump has repeatedly expressed confidence that the war is nearing completion, military experts warn that conflicts in the region can escalate quickly. Iranian forces and allied groups in neighboring countries still possess the ability to launch missile, drone and naval attacks.

For now, global markets, governments and military planners are watching closely to see whether the conflict will indeed wind down soon — or expand into a broader regional confrontation.
