A source in the Yemeni armed forces told Lebanese Al-Mayadeen TV Network, which is close to the resistance groups in the region, on Thursday that Yemeni air defenses have successfully repelled a massive Israeli airstrike on Sanaa.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli army bombed various areas south of Sanaa with 20 warplanes in a new aerial aggression. According to local sources, only 12 explosions were heard in the city.
The source emphasized that Yemeni defense systems intercepted and targeted several groups of enemy warplanes, forcing them to leave the skies of Sanaa before any bombing could be carried out.
He also said that in addition to using dozens of aircraft in this operation, the Zionist regime had also launched missiles from warships in the sea.
According to this Yemeni military source, the air defenses were able to thwart most of this attack by preparing multi-layered defenses to prevent the enemy from achieving its goals.
Meanwhile, while Israeli sources have claimed to have bombed military sites and the headquarters of Yemeni commanders, according to local sources, Israeli warplanes first bombed the Dhahaban’s power station located 10 km northwest of Sanaa, and then targeted residential areas on Al-Raqqas Street in the Moeen and Sabeen districts. Other residential areas were also repeatedly attacked by airstrikes i nthe same districts.
Local witnesses have reported widespread panic among civilians and serious damage to residential homes, although official figures on possible casualties have not yet been released.
Hospital sources in Yemen reported the martyrdom of 2 civilians and the injury of 48 others in the Israeli regime’s airstrike on Sanaa, although this figure could rise.
Meanwhile, Israel’s Channel 12 said in a report after the attack: “No one has succeeded in defeating them so far, the balance against the Yemenis will not be broken, and we are facing a war of attrition.”
