Address ‘longstanding demands’ of Baloch people, India tells Pakistan

India on Sunday (February 1, 2026) refuted Islamabad’s allegation of being linked to a series of attacks by the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) during the weekend and urged Pakistan to address “long-standing demands” of Baloch rebels.

The remarks from the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) came after Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi alleged that the latest attacks that rocked cities like Gwadar, Quetta and Pasni were carried out with help from India.

‘Own internal failings’

“We categorically reject the baseless allegations made by Pakistan, which are nothing but its usual tactics to deflect attention from its own internal failings,” said MEA official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal who urged Pakistan to “focus on addressing long-standing demands of its people in the region”.

“Its record of suppression, brutality and violation of human rights is well known,” said Mr. Jaiswal. Earlier, Mr. Naqvi had pointed a finger at India while explaining the latest attacks by BLA that have claimed lives of at least 18 civilians and 15 law enforcement officials. “India is behind these attacks,” Mr. Naqvi had said in a press conference in Quetta on Saturday (January 31, 2026).

Over the weekend, several cities and townships in Balochistan have witnessed attacks that were claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army. BLA’s spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said in a mail to the media that the wave of violence is part of so called ‘Operation Herof 2’ and that the operation has continued for more than 15 hours.

On Sunday (February 1, 2026), Mr. Jeeyand Baloch claimed that the BLA’s fighters have established position in Pakistan military’s camp in Noshki, located in southwest Quetta. Mr. Jeeyand Baloch further said that BLA’s fighters had managed to establish a temporary blockade on the coastal highway of Balochistan disrupting smooth movement.
